Marshall’s Garden

My step-dad, Marshall Cohn, was born in 1922 in San Francisco. His grew up on 7th Avenue in the Richmond District. Even though he passed away, the home he grew up in has remained in our family. And today, when I was at the property taking care of a few things, I discovered this sign. It made me smile. Every property has a history, and sometimes, if you look hard, you’ll discover it.

Blue Skies in the Dogpatch

The City feels like it always should during the summer – foggy, overcast, cold and windy. But Potrero Hill’s Dogpatch district, always the exception to the rule – blue skies!!! And while not exactly warm and still somewhat breezy, the weather here defnitely has less "bite" than the rest of the City right now.
I’ve lived in SF my whole life, and I’ll always agree with Mark Twain, "The coldest winter I spent was a summer in San Francisco." But, I’ll still always love it here. It is, after all, HOME!

The House of Love

Someone wrote a song once about the House of the Rising Sun. Well, this isn’t it, but I’ve been told it’s called The House of Love (on Fulton at Masonic.)

San Francisco’s Ocean Beach

The beach as seen from the Outer Richmond district.
Have to say, I’m having one of those days where I fall in love with SF’s nook and cranny all over again.
I just drove down Balboa Street and was reminded of all my old haunts from when I grew up… the Balboa Theater, Chino’s Taqueria and even St. Thomas Apostle school where I spent my pre-teen years learning to diagram sentences.
Sometimes I’m so busy that I forget how much I don’t just love San Francisco, but am actually in love with it. Glad to be reminded of that love affair today.
